Carstenz Pyramid, "The Seventh Summit"
Kurt Gusinde

A mountain climber and world adventurer, Kurt shares video and slides from his recent expedition to the highest peak in the Australasian continent –Carstensz Pyramid. Considered the true “Seventh Summit”, Carstensz Pyramid is the most difficult of the “Seven Summits” to access. The climb itself is on beautiful, sharp limestone. Somewhat technical, ascending includes a Tyrolean traverse; descending involves 15 repels. For over 25 years, Kurt has climbed numerous North American peaks as well as several of the highest peaks around the world. His “Summit Dream” is to continue to climb the highest peak on each continent and complete his goal of climbing the 16 major glaciated peaks in the Northwest. With 6 of the 7 continental summits tackled, Kurt will climb Mt. Everest this spring.
